Rudolf Naudè walked away with the winning title at the Sasol Cross Adventure Event held in Klipbaai this past weekend. After braving a 3km run, 22km mountain bike ride and 5km run, completing in an impressive time of 01:23:50. This is Naudè’s second consecutive Cross Adventure win, after having won the first event held in Vanderbijlpark.
Second place went to Ruan Botes for completing the race in a time of 01:24:51while Joggie Rossouw placed third with a time of 01:31:08.
“Completing any race is hugely satisfying, especially one as challenging as the Sasol Cross Adventure Events. I am thrilled with the win, thank you to Sasol for such a great event,” commented Naudè.
For the second time in this series, the women’s race title went to Sylvia van Tromp who completed the race in a time of 01:36:20. Van Tromp was followed by Magda Nieuwoudt in a time of 01:46:35; the bronze medal went to Nadine Pretorius for coming in at 01:49:15.
As a firm supporter for wellbeing and family living, Sasol has sponsored the Cross Adventure Events since 2009, to encourage families and companies to enjoy healthy and enjoyable outdoor activities. Each event hosts its own triathlon and duathlon, which can be treated as individual events.
The event offers three races; a sprint triathlon which comprises of a 500m swim, 10km mountain bike ride and a 3km run; a standard triathlon is made up of a 1km swim, 22km mountain bike ride and a 5km run; or the duathlon a 3km run, 22km mountain bike ride followed by a 5km run.
The final leg of the Sasol Cross Adventure Events will take place on Sunday, 13 April 2014 at Abrahamsrust in Sasolburg. Athletes of all fitness levels and families are encouraged to join in on the festivities of this multi-sport event, which is a great endurance race and fun outdoor activity.
