In celebrating its 34th consecutive year of sponsoring the Free State Schools Athletics, Sasol is proud to announce that the 2013 National Primary Schools Championships will be hosted in Sasolburg. This year, the Free State Schools Athletics consists of five events of which 3 will be hosted at the DP de Villiers Stadium in Sasolburg while the Bloemfontein Stadium will play host to 2 events.

According to Corporate Affairs General Manager for Sasol Sasolburg, Ivor Zwane, Sasol is a firm supporter of healthy living and encourages the youth to participate in sport.

In 2012, the School Athletic championship events attracted over 5000 athletes. There are several categories that form a part of the School Athletics, which are open to primary, secondary and Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSEN) schools.
