Athletes, novice runners and families are encouraged to sign-up for the Sasol Marathon taking place on Saturday, 1 February 2014 at the DP de Villiers Stadium in Sasolburg.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Sasol Marathon is the perfect race for people of all ages and fitness levels. For the avid athlete, the event offers a full marathon of 42.2km or a 21.1km half marathon. For families and children looking to enjoy some healthy, outdoor fun, there is a 10km run and a 4.9km fun run/ walk.
According to Cobus Jansen, Manager Public Affairs: Communication for Sasol, Sasolburg, the Sasol Marathon is an important event on the calendar as it is a Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier. “Athletes can now enjoy being hosted at the recently revamped DP de Villiers Stadium which is now regarded as a Level Two track and sports a new tartan track amongst the other facilities which have been upgraded. Sasol is committed to making a difference in the areas it operates in and wants to make the Sasol Marathon an enjoyable event for all,” concluded Jansen.
The Sasol Marathon has earned a reputation for its water points manned by the various Sasol business units making it one of the best organised athletic events in the country.
Pre-entries for the full marathon and half marathon can be submitted online at www.enteronline.co.za until 23 January 2014. Late entries may be submitted at the venue on the morning of the event from 04:30.
The starting time for the full marathon, half marathon and 10km race is 06:00 followed by the fun run/ walk at 06:30.
