This weekend, the Sasol Racing Circuit Team heads to Zwartkops Raceway for the 10th Sasol Race Day, round seven of the Bridgestone Production Car Championships Series, to power the Surbarus around the track.

 

The Sasol Race Day headline event will showcase teams as they chase top honours. Sasol Racing will be represented by multiple champion, Hennie Groenewald and team mate, Richard Pinard, piloting their Subaru WRX STI’s.

 

“Motorsport is an important part of Sasol’s history. We’ve play a pivotal role in contributing to the development of racing engine technology. The result has been high performance fuels and lubricants that are being developed and tested by Sasol for South African conditions,” said Alan Cameron, Managing Director, Sasol Oil.

 

Groenewald, currently in third position in the title standings, and Pinard, will each be hoping for a repeat of their best weekend earlier this year at Zwartkops Raceway. “It would be great to emulate that performance, but I doubt we will dominate to that extent, as our main rivals have been given a lifeline and received no additional weight to equalize the field,” said Groenewald.

 

Pinard is equally enthusiastic about the Sasol Race Day. “It is the flagship event on the calendar and we’re excited to have Sasol behind us and motorsport, which benefits all the championships.”

 

Sasol Racing teams serve as catalysts in developing Sasol Turbo Fuels and Lubricants. Circuit vehicles have highly sophisticated engines equipped with state-of-the-art technology that endure extreme conditions, yet maintain high performance.

 

“We wish our teams well for the upcoming race this weekend and have full confidence that they will make us proud,” Cameron concluded.

 

The race qualifier begins at 07:30 with the first race scheduled to line up at the starting grid at 10 :15 on 25 August 2012. Fans are invited to the Sasol Racing pit to meet the team and have a closer look at the cars.
