Sasol is working closely with Eskom and Government and is confident that transportation fuel supplies will be maintained.

 

"While doing everything possible to optimise electricity consumption, it is essential to resume full operation of the Synfuels value chain in order to maintain supplies to customers. For the last few days upstream operations have been running at somewhat reduced loads but we have been able to maintain full supply of final products by utilising intermediate component stocks," says Sasol executive director Benny Mokaba.

 

The group is pleased to report that its contingency plans to help normalise production throughout its South African operations have successfully limited the impact of power shortages.

 

Sasol Mining continues to supply adequate feedstock for synthetic fuel and chemicals production and the stockpile inventory remains at satisfactory levels. Sasol's chemical cluster was not affected by the load cuts.
