Sasol will host its annual sports weekend, aimed at bringing fun as well as promoting opportunities for talent identification and growth within the active members of the community and work force. This will be done through 20 different sporting activities.
The event will be held at Kinross, Secunda and eMbalenhle Community Recreation Centres from 3 to 5 May 2013, with the opening ceremony scheduled for May 4 at eMbalenhle.
Sasol encourages active participation of employees and community members in sports and recreation since sport has proven to be a catalyst of unifying people in all walks of life and instill a culture of a healthy life style across all age groups.
“This initiative is held in the spirit of developing and promoting sport and recreation in the communities in which we operate and for our employees,” said Sasol Recreational Services Manager, Marisa van Niekerk.
“The Sasol Community Sports Weekend is a great family event that offers excitement for all ages. It is open to the public and I urge families, fans and the community to come and support their teams in action,” she said.
More than 4 000 spectators are anticipated to watch 600 participants demonstrate their skills in their sporting code of choice. This annual event has attracted a wide variety of teams in the past and is a highly recognised sporting event in Mpumalanga. Medals and trophies will be presented to the winners throughout the event.
