South Africa’s longest standing art competition, the Sasol New Signatures Art Competition is currently underway. As artists across the country prepare their submissions for this prestigious competition, Peter Binsbergen, acclaimed artist and Chairman of the Sasol New Signatures art competition, will host information sessions throughout the country in May 2014.
The information sessions serve as a tutorial on how to prepare entries for consideration, provide useful insight into the judging process and guide potential entrants on conceptualisation, display techniques and presentation of work.
The following information sessions will be held in Bloemfontein, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria and are open to the public, as well as art students. Space for these sessions is limited and interested artists are encouraged to book their seat with Nandi Hilliard on 012 346 3100 or 083 288 5227 or artspta@mweb.co.za as soon as possible.

“The Sasol New Signatures art competition has established itself as a distinctive competition providing a reputable platform to advance the country’s emerging talent. At Sasol, we believe that the arts form one of the biggest platforms of expression and we are privileged to have been a part of this competition over the past 25 years,” said Richard Hughes, Sasol Sponsorship Manager.
The competition winner will receive a R100 000 cash prize as well as a solo exhibition at the Pretoria Arts Museum next year. The runner up will receive a cash prize of R25 000 and the five merit winners will each be awarded R10 000.
