Sasol Germany GmbH, with locations in Hamburg, Brunsbüttel and Marl, has achieved 2nd place in the Responsible Care Initiative organised by the Verband der Chemischen Industrie Landesverband Nord e. V. (VCI Nord). The competition focused on the topic "Our commitment to a safe and healthy working environment".
Sasol Germany participated with its "Safety and Health Days" initiative, organized at its Hamburg, Brunsbüttel and Marl locations. The "Safety and Health Days" address a wide variety of aspects from the areas of occupational safety, health protection, well-being and health promotion. At the Brunsbüttel production site, among other activities, an electronic foot measurement was offered. As a result, 30 percent of the participants now wear the correct shoe size, insoles, or a different shoe model. In addition, employees were introduced to various holding systems for tools, which are now to become an integral part of everyday working life.
At the Hamburg site, which primarily consists of office workstations, various initiatives were implemented to enhance employee well-being. These initiatives included "Active breaks", regular medical check-ups, fire safety training, and the "Enjoying together" campaign. As part of this campaign, employees organized events such as two bring-your-own buffets with the themes "Starters and salads from around the world" and "Cake break for heart & soul".
Both locations emphasized the importance of "healthy eating". Daily digital nutrition lectures and brief coaching sessions on nutrition were made available for employees to participate in on-site.
The VCI Nord jury was highly impressed by the diverse range of topics covered in the project. They acknowledged that despite a modest budget, the team demonstrated that it is possible to create a comprehensive program with great commitment. The program covered various important aspects such as health, occupational safety, and health promotion.
