Ultra Low Sulphur

The latest engine and exhaust after-treatment technologies (catalytic convertors) need fuel with ultra low sulphur content.

Sulphur deactivates the various catalyst surfaces found in 3-way catalytic converters on petrol engines and diesel oxidation catalysts on diesel engines. This decreases catalyst efficiency and causes harmful exhaust gas compounds to enter the atmosphere.

The role of sulphur in the formation of acid rain as well as acid rain's harmful impact on the environment is well-known and the reduction of sulphur levels has helped to minimise this negative impact.

Thanks to our synthetic fuel production process, Sasol Turbofuels from our Secunda production facility are inherently sulphur-free and are the only fuels in the country that consistently meet the most stringent international sulphur content specifications (10ppm).
