Sasolburg, South Africa – More than 500 swimmers from seven provinces and a team from Botswana and a swimmer from Dubai took to the water this morning to participate in the 46^th Sasol National Winter Swimming Championship held at the Penny Heyns Swimming Pool in Sasolburg.

Over the years the event has seen top international swimmers like Penny Heyns and Ryk Neethling starting their competitive careers in these waters. As much is expected from the four members of the South African junior swim team who are in action at this year’s event. Ruan Breytenbach and Kyle Letley will participate in the boys events and Tatjana Schoenmaker and Marizelle van Jaarsveld.

Other young stars to be watched are Ivan Beukes, Craydon Muller, Jandré Moll and Ockert Vermeulen in the boys events. The talented girls are Carmen Botha, Bianca Gray and local Sasolburg swimmer, Samantha Straw.
