After three adrenaline-pumping Sasol Cross Adventure Events, the winner of the last edition of the 2014 events has been crowned. Stefan van Niekerk emerged the true champion completing the race in a time of 1:35:44.
“It feels good to have won this race, each section is challenging yet enjoyable. I participated in the first event in February and placed seventh. Winning the final leg of the series is truly fulfilling,” shared van Niekerk
Following van Niekerk in this category was Joggie Rossouw finishing in a time of 1:37:26, and third place went to Ruan Naude for coming in at 1:40:55.
Third-time winner in the 2014 series and no stranger to the Sasol Cross Adventure Events, Sylvia van Tromp clenched the title in the women’s race in a time of 1:35:58.
“It’s such a blessing to win all three races; I have taken part in the event for a number of years now but still never take it lightly. The best part of the Sasol Cross Adventure, apart from the fact that it’s a well organised race, is that it caters to athletes of all fitness levels and families which is great,” said van Tromp.
Second place in the ladies’ category went to Johandri Leicester (1:48:44); and third place was secured by Nadine Pretorius (1:59:46).
“Making a difference in the community of Sasolburg, which is an integral part of our business operations as a company, is of great importance to us. It’s been an exceptional series and we are proud to offer an event of this calibre.” said Ivor Zwane, General Manager Public Affairs at Sasol Sasolburg.
Sasol’s contribution to the development of sports includes karate, athletics, swimming, motorsport and soccer, to name a few.
