The first Burger King® restaurant at a Sasol Convenience Centre was unveiled today at Sasol Circle Centre in Centurion, Pretoria West. The restaurant is located within the existing Sasol delight shop. The inclusion of a quick service restaurant (QSR) to the fuel and convenience offering will enhance the consumer experience.
“Partnering with Burger King®, one of the leading global QSR brands is in line with Sasol’s strategic vision and will allow the company to expand its retail footprint in South Africa,” said Alan Cameron, Managing Director, Sasol Oil.
Sasol Oil and Burger King® concluded the agreement, which allows Burger King® South Africa to open stores within Sasol’s retail network, in July 2013. The deal provides Burger King® franchising opportunities to current and potential Sasol franchisees.
Sasol Oil Retail Head, Mohamed Carrim, highlighted that the Sasol Burger King® partnership clearly demonstrates the profound transformation of the fuel retail landscape in South Africa. “The development of non-fuel offers is an integral part of our strategy. Non-fuel offers broaden the range of goods and services that can be purchased at Sasol Convenience Centres,” said Carrim.
According to Imtiaz Tayob, Sasol Circle Centre franchisee, “This is a great opportunity for Sasol franchisees as Burger King® is a world renowned brand.
The next store will be opened in February at Sasol Maraboe in Pretoria. Franchisee Phala Aletta Mabilu is equally excited about the opportunity and looks forward to the grand opening at her store.
By June this year, three additional Burger King® QSR’s will be built at Sasol Convenience Centres. This partnership will be accelerated across the Sasol Retail network over the next five years.
