Secunda, Mpumalanga – Sasol, through its Community Centres, has created a platform for aspirant sports people around Govan Mbeki Municipal (GMM) area and beyond to showcase their talent during the annual sports weekend. The event will take place from 05 – 07 April 2019 at the various Sasol Community Centres and other local sports grounds.
The annual sports weekend is a Sasol initiative that was established in 2007 with an aim to encourage employees and community members to actively participate in sports. Through this competition the company also promotes local talent and different sporting codes. It is also a platform for talent scouts to identify talent that can be developed within the GMM communities.
The event is free and open to sport clubs and individuals in and around Mpumalanga. In the past, the event also attracted a variety of teams from other provinces.
The following sporting codes and activities will participate during this event:
An official opening ceremony will take place on Friday, 5 April at 15h00 at the eMbalenhle Community Centre.
Sporting activities will commence on Saturday, 6 April at 08h00.
