Secunda, Mpumalanga – Sasol participated in the “Bring a Child to Work” initiative in Secunda on Thursday, 13 June hosting 60 boys and girls The purpose of this initiative is to encourage learners to pursue technical subjects in order to increase the pool of rare skills in the country.
Sasol participated in the initiative to give learners exposure to the wide spectrum of technical careers at Sasol and other opportunities provided by its artisanship, engineering and learnerships programmes.
This year’s event focused on Grade 9 learners from AD Nkosi Secondary School, which is one of the Mathematics Science and Technology (MST) schools, in Govan Mbeki Municipality in Bethal.
The school, through the Sasol Foundation, is being converted into a technical school. The programme for the day included discussions on career choices, mini exhibitions, young artisans’ interaction sessions as well as virtual reality plant and Mock mine tours.
