The bitter and cold weather did not deter hundreds of motoring enthusiasts from attending the Sasol Race Day this past weekend at Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria. Sasolracing team entertained fans with a home victory and spectators enjoyed the various categories of racing from superbikes to production cars.
Sasolracing’s Hennie Groenewald claimed the overall honours for the seventh round of the Bridgestone Production Car Championships. Groenewald had double-points scoring, coupled with a strong opening race that gave the Sasolracing Subaru a narrow win of 0.085 seconds.
“The team effort resulted in a successful Sasol Race Day. The Sasol Subaru performed beautifully to provide the team and myself with the overall win on the day,” said Groenewald.
The Sasol Racing Circuit Team pilots Subaru WRX STI’s, which underwent an eight week extensive development. Circuit vehicles have highly sophisticated engines equipped with state-of-the-art technology that endure extreme conditions, yet maintain high performance.
“We are elated with Hennie’s performance. He once again proved how he pushes his performance to the maximum. Sasol plays a pivotal role in contributing to the development of racing engine technology. The result has been high performance fuels and lubricants that are being developed and tested by Sasol for South African conditions, ” said Alan Cameron, Managing Director, Sasol Oil.
The next outing for the Sasolracing Circuit Team is on 5th October at Killarney Raceway in Cape Town, for the eighth and penultimate round of the Bridgestone Production Cars.
